Several freedom seekers owned by Col. Edward Towers, were hidden in the homes of Robert Miller and Absolom King in the Red Oak Settlement. Two were discovered in Miller’s house and he (Miller) was stabbed to death. At King’s house, a fight ensued. Col Tower’s son was killed, then King was shot . Sheriff arrived, stopped the violence.
