GALLATIN: John Lewis’ arrest and escape.
Man named John Lewis was logged in Gallatin Co Jail 18 Aug 1831, under suspicion of being a runaway. Produced free papers, but was not believed. The man managed to break free from jail, left behind his horse and tack.
